ECS is the latest development in the field of cardiac Surgery. Traditionally open heart surgery is performed by opening the breast bone and the length of cut is around 5-6 inches and that scar Mark is cosmetically not acceptable to many patients especially young Patients. None the less the opening of breastbone is generating lot of pain after surgery and Chance of developing wound infection is also high in conventional heart Surgery particularly in diabetic patients.
ECS is done through 1-1.5 inches cut via space between the ribs without opening the breastbone. Operation is usually done under clear vision of endoscope with 3D or Ultra High Definition camera system and surgeon does the operation with far superior that is 10 times magnified and naturally it gives better precision and safety. Pain after operation is negligible, surgical bleeding is also minimal and recovery is faster than conventional operation. Chance of infection is also very less. Above all surgical scar is hardly visible , hence cosmetically far superior.
Almost all the common heart surgery like VALVE replacement/repair, Closure of hole in the heart, bypass surgery for coronary artery blockages are performed with this new techniques.
